Is public transit usable in Hartford?

Hi all, We're a young couple and Rent is about $1,095/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any advice would be great. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Downtown area are improving. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.
