Hartsville/Trousdale County is underrated, change my mind
Longtime lurker here, Homes are going for about $284,100 on average. Thoughts?

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The school system scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 9 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.
