Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider -Harvard sits at 209.0 per 100K. Am I overthinking this?

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much pricey but now it's better than expected.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 38, moved here 5 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Old Town and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The traffic situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Tampa about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Denver about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Riverside area are underrated. Kids love it here.
