Relocating to Hasbrouck Heights, NJ -pros and cons?
Hey folks, I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $118,670 in Hasbrouck Heights. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Should I be concerned?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is decent in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a real estate agent, 30, moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in West and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Property taxes are high
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for couples. solid vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Denver about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
