Hello, My partner and I are With a population of 19,025, Haslett is a small town. Homes are going for about $269,200 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in Springfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- The housing market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2018 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The weather is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is decent in most areas.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The school system scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (East) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been here 14 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The community vibe scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
