Random thought, I'm a 41-year-old lawyer and Median household income is $44,140, which feels on the lower side for the area. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Midtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
