First post here. I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $2,726 for rent here. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $2,726/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Hauppauge sits at 22.0 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good.
