Is Haverhill worth moving to in 2026?

Anyone else feel this way? We have two kids and It's a a smaller city city with about 67,387 people. You can expect to pay around $1,620 for rent here. Rent is about $1,620/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $426,900, which is pretty steep. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Does this match your experience? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
