Is it worth buying in Haverhill?

Alright, I'm single, late 20s, and Rent is about $1,620/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. It's a a smaller city city with about 67,387 people. Median household income is $87,675, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Low taxes

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Limited nightlife
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
What do you all think? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The cultural scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 15 years. Moved from Houston for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Bugs and humidity in summer. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.
