Anyone regret moving to Havre de Grace?

First post here. The median home value here is around $348,800, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Havre de Grace sits at 259.2 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What do you all think? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Downtown area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 13 years. Moved from Miami for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is solid - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited shopping options. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
