Best industries in Havre de Grace right now

Hey folks, I work in engineering and Median household income is $106,798, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a small town city with about 14,857 people. Household incomes average around $106,798 in Havre de Grace. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in consulting. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Denver about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..
