Cost of living reality check -Havre de Grace

I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider -Havre de Grace sits at 259.2 per 100K. Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 11 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
