Is Havre de Grace worth moving to in 2026?

Random thought, I'm retired and Homes are going for about $348,800 on average. The median home value here is around $348,800, which seems about average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? Any help is appreciated.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 6 years. Moved from Phoenix for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is average - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Far from beaches/mountains. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
