Moving to Hawi with kids -good idea?

Just moved here 6 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,898 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I overthinking this?

I've lived in East for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

I'm a data analyst and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Eastside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
