Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and It's a a small town city with about 1,664 people. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $848/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $94,800, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 6.0%, which is about average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 31, moved here 3 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Midtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The traffic situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Tampa about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 7 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much competitive but now it's underrated.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The weather scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
