Hawthorne is underrated, change my mind

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 85,933, Hawthorne is a smaller city. Median household income is $72,719, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $813,700, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,723/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited dining options
- Lack of diversity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Let me know your thoughts. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've lived in Riverside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
- The dating scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 4 years. Moved from Seattle for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Can feel isolated. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
