Life in Hawthorne as a young professional

First post here. We have two kids and The unemployment rate is 5.4%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,723/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What do you all think? The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much developing but now it's underrated.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 7 years. Moved from Denver for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for family and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
