Is Hawthorne getting better or worse?

Hi all, Household incomes average around $118,093 in Hawthorne. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 13 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in North for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is tough in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely excellent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (West) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The pet-friendliness is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
