Planning a move to Hayesville -neighborhoods?

OK so My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 22,309 people. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Worth the trade-offs?

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Came here for work and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 47, moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Property taxes are high
3. The outdoor recreation situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for remote workers. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is challenging in most areas.
