Best restaurants in Hays?

I've been here for 17 years and Homes are going for about $220,100 on average. It's a a small town city with about 21,078 people. Poverty rate is 10.4%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Hays sits at 268.0 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 9 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I'm a nurse and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Seattle about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..
