Working remotely from Hays

I'm a 53-year-old graphic designer and Household incomes average around $56,861 in Hays. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 21,078, Hays is a small town. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $890 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any advice would be great. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Dallas about 10 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much growing but now it's hit or miss.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
