Hi all, I'm retired and Median household income is $113,775, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a mid-size city city with about 159K people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any advice would be great.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..
