Most overrated things about Hazardville

Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 7 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Hazardville sits at 119.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $230,400, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $96,531, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,407 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 58, moved here 3 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Old Town and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Property taxes are high
3. The cost of living situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
