Hello, The median home value here is around $181,400, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 13,493, Hazel Crest is a small town. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much affordable but now it's average.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
