Rent vs buy in Hazel Crest -what makes sense?

Random thought, I relocated for work and Rent is about $1,439/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Hazel Crest sits at 446.8 per 100K. Poverty rate is 19.2%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $181,400 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for reading. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

I'm a electrician and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Dallas it's pretty good.

I work in manufacturing here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is better than expected. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
