First time home buyer in Hazleton

Household incomes average around $43,379 in Hazleton. Homes are going for about $129,000 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thanks! The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much pricey but now it's average.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I work in engineering here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is excellent. Definitely worth checking out..

I work in retail here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is better than expected. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2019 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 8 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely decent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Westside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Downtown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cultural scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
