Hazleton vs Los Angeles -which is better?

Random thought, I work in energy and Poverty rate is 24.1%, which is higher than I expected. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,886 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Hazleton? Any help is appreciated. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The housing market scene is solid

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
