Job market in Hazleton for tech?

Hey, I'm originally from Memphis and The median home value here is around $129,000, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $1,015 for rent here. Median household income is $43,379, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,886 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for Hazleton? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 56, moved here 9 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in East and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The public transit situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much developing but now it's better than expected.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..
