Is Heath a good place to live?

Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 4 months ago and The median home value here is around $681,500, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Heath sits at 130.7 per 100K. With a population of 10,218, Heath is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 50, moved here 7 years ago from New York. I've lived in South and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The dating scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
