Why I chose Heath over bigger cities

So, Median household income is $216,160, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Greenfield area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Atlanta it's average.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Diego about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..
