Curious what people think. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 40--F, so bundle up in winter. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
