Hey folks, I'm originally from Albuquerque and Rent is about $2,518/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $382,400, which seems about average. Median household income is $129,884, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 9,372, Helotes is a small town. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Helotes? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 10 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
