OK so My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $82,454 in Hempstead. Poverty rate is 13.0%, which is around average. You can expect to pay around $1,649 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to.
