Affordable areas near Henderson?

Hi all, I'm a teacher here and It's a a mid-size city city with about 325K people. With a population of 325K, Henderson is a mid-size city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What do you all think? Thanks!

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great BBQ places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.
