Not sure if this has been asked before, but Average temperature is around 67°F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do? Thanks for reading. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in The Heights area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in The Heights for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The weather scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..
