Commute times in Henderson — how bad?

Been meaning to ask this. Homes are going for about $465,000 on average. The median home value here is around $465,000, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts?

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Atlanta it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from New York about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..
