Just moved to Henderson from Houston — first impressions

We made the move 3 ago and here are my first impressions:

People are genuinely friendly here. Rent runs about $1,750/month for a typical apartment. The weather is great — warm most of the year with an average of 67F.

Biggest surprise: Traffic is worse than I thought
Biggest disappointment: Some areas feel neglected

Overall, I plan to stay long-term.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Check out the Cedar Hills area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

I work in logistics and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 5 months.

If you can afford it, Riverside is the best place to live. Period.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Highland Park and Lakewood are perfectly safe.

Don't sleep on Northside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!
