With a population of 2,880, Henniker is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,084 for rent here. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Should I be concerned? Appreciate any input. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I've lived in Pine Hills for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- The dating scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Baltimore it's improving.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 54, moved here 14 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in South and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The safety situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
