Alright, I've been here for 20 years and The median home value here is around $109,100, which is actually reasonable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from New York about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
