Planning a move to Hermantown -neighborhoods?

Been living here since 2020. The median home value here is around $374,000, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 40--F, so bundle up in winter. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Let me know your thoughts.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Baltimore about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in tech. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.
