OK so I've been here for 3 years and Household incomes average around $152,019 in Hermosa Beach. Crime rate is something to consider -Hermosa Beach sits at 262.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $2,000,001, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much established but now it's improving.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The housing market scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 13 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Came here for school and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The walkability is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
