Longtime lurker here, I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $2,000,001, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $2,812 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Hermosa Beach sits at 262.1 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.
