Working in Hermosa Beach -salaries realistic?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $2,000,001 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 2 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is solid in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 5 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (West) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Springfield area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Miami about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
