Commute times in Herndon -how bad?

OK so Crime rate is something to consider -Herndon sits at 259.2 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I overthinking this?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to San Diego it's underrated.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 13 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
