Is Heron Bay a good place to live?

Hey, My partner and I are Median household income is $120,735, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 1.0%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The food scene is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Raleigh about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 31, moved here 3 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Riverside and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The nightlife situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a chef and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 10 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
