Anyone regret moving to Herriman?

Anyone else feel this way? With a population of 57,336, Herriman is a smaller city. Median household income is $118,446, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Herriman sits at 77.9 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The traffic is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 54, moved here 13 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Eastside and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The public transit situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. improving vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 45, moved here 11 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Downtown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited shopping options
3. The weather situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Riverside for 6 years. Moved from Chicago for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Property taxes are high. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
