Household incomes average around $135,139 in Hewlett. Rent is about $2,295/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 11 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely average and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much pricey but now it's challenging.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
