Hey everyone, I work in healthcare and Crime rate is something to consider -Hibbing sits at 257.9 per 100K. With a population of 16,100, Hibbing is a small town. Average temperature is around 37--F, so bundle up in winter. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Would love some local perspective. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Thai places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Highland area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Midtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 55, moved here 7 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in South and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for singles. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Raleigh it's excellent.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The community vibe is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Atlanta about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Southern.
