Best kept secrets of Hickam Housing, HI

Hello, I'm a remote worker and You can expect to pay around $3,501 for rent here. Household incomes average around $111,667 in Hickam Housing. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience?

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 14 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Fairview area are solid. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much affordable but now it's solid.
