Best companies to work for in Hickory?

I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $975/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $975 for rent here. Poverty rate is 11.9%, which is around average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
